Love for The Dog Said Bow-Wow

The Dog Said Bow-Wow, our latest Michael Swanwick collection, will be out on September 1st. Great reading for Labor Day weekend. You might even already be able to get a copy from your favorite bookseller.

Even before publication, the critics are starting to weigh in, and - surprise! - they love the collection. Here's a sampling:

Starred review "In addition to their individual quality, the 16 stories in this rollicking collection amply demonstrate Hugo-winner Swanwick's impressive versatility. " -Publishers Weekly

"surpassingly brilliant...storytelling of the highest order"
-Locus

"Swanwick's graceful prose, prodigious inventiveness and sense of humor are very much in evidence here, as is his considerable range in subject and tone."
-Tangent

We knew it all along.

Also, Michael has a spiffy new blog.

The Booksmith gives you a happy Childhood

Tonight Ellen Klages will take over The Booksmith in the Haight, reading from Portable Childhoods. A free Klages trading card to all who attend - and this is the only time/place you can get one.

I'd say The Booksmith is one of the coolest places in San Fransisco to attend a book event. A charming and well-stocked indie bookstore. A comfortably large, yet cozy space for events. Events that are well-publicized and well-attended. And then there are the wicked cool trading-cards that look great on your fridge, or if you're inclined to stalk, to keep in your wallet (I still have mine from the China Mieville event. Not stalking him. Much.).

You won't want to miss the Q&A session, sure to be full of the famed Klages wit and unpredictability. Do your homework. Ellen's the fastest gun in the West (or anywhere else), so you'll have to be quick on the draw to keep up. See you there.
